Allow us to introduce you to Inspirations Newspaper a publication: a snapshot of the special needs community.
The English Montreal School Board (EMSB), a leader in catering to special needs children and young adults, is proud to be sponsoring Inspirations Newspaper. It is published twice annually (fall and spring) and distributed widely in the Greater Montreal, Laval and South Shore areas to English school boards, institutions dealing with special needs individuals, hospitals, doctors offices, community organizations, the media and government. The magazine is available at many drop-off points across the island, including community centres, city halls, libraries and restaurants.
Our editorial board is made up of specialist from all fields, and we are proud to collaborate with the Lester B. Pearson School Board, Riverside School Board and Sir Wilfred Laurier School Board. Our ultimate goal is to have a copy of Inspirations in the hands of all of our teachers.
Inspirations provides uplifting success stories and timely advice in the area of special needs, brought to you by experts in various fields. Through the pages of Inspirations we bring you the feedback from psychologists, guidance counselors, speech language pathologists, autism spectrum disorder consultants, behavior specialists, social workers and physiotherapists. We go into the classrooms of the intellectually and physically handicapped as well as examine how the visually and hearing-impaired population cope day to day. The underlining message is that all of these people continue to be “Inspirations” to all of us.
Amongst the many stories we feature, Inspirations includes the ‘Teacher of Inspiration’ and ‘Caregiver of Inspiration'; an adapted travel section written by Michael Cohen; book reviews written by Stuart Nulman; a French-lanuage column by Julie-René de Cotret; Planet Sheldon - a new cartoon strip by Jason Goldsmith and a not to be missed regular column by the amazing Jay Jones-Doyle. Check these sections out right here in our In the News section.
We have taken this initiative due to the demand of many parents. Inspirations has not only become an important tool for the special needs community, it is also educating the entire community.
We have compiled a database with over 400 resources, from counseling to tutoring and respite care, available right here for your perusal.
We would love to hear from you, and welcome your feedback and story ideas. Inspirations News is a great place to share your news with the public.
Welcome!
